OUT-TERRORIZING THE TERRORISTS

Two young U.S. Marines, whose first names are Josh and Conor, are now home from Iraq and crisscrossing our nation with a message for any young person who will listen. It’s a message about why we went to war, what war is like, and how good men and women become willing participants. Josh and Conor did not know one another before joining the Marines, and the two did not come from overly similar backgrounds. What unites these two is what they have both seen and been taught, as well as a determination to spread a message of peace and Christian values while exposing appalling standard operating procedures that have earned the U.S. military abroad a reputation that "out-terrorizes the terrorists" in the eyes of the civilian populations they patrol. Read how the hatred for civilian populations abroad is engrained in the Marines as early as boot camp, and how that brainwashing turns young men who thought they were joining to defend Christian values into Soldiers they quickly become ashamed of having become.

DAMAGED AND DISCHARGED

Unlike many U.S. Army recruits, John Mayo had never been in serious trouble with the law before. He joined the U.S. Army with a clean record, and was shipped off to defend our freedom in Iraq from Fort Richardson in 2006 with about 3,500 others in the 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division. He was in Iraq for more than a year. And although Mayo began taking medications in Iraq, real troubles began after returning home from Iraq. Six months after his return, he was on U.S. Army prescribed medications including painkillers, anti-depressants, sleeping pills, anti-anxiety drugs and anti-psychotic medications. Mayo was suffering from PTSD. It was during this time that the Army says Mayo committed larceny; a crime Mayo has no recollection of committing. For this offense, Mayo has been kicked out of the Army. Damaged and discharged, John Mayo and his family-a wife and a son, are now homeless and camping out in a home under construction in Wasilla, Alaska. Probably not what John Mayo had in mind when the Army told him how they’d make him Army Strong.

DUTCH INQUIRY FINDS IRAQ WAR ILLEGAL

Both the British and Dutch Iraq War inquiry processes have taken place in the last several months. Of course, the average American casual news follower may very well have no idea about either of these. The decision not to cover these inquiries raises only the latest red flags, in the last 9 years, that the American government seems to think will go away if not addressed. But now that a formal judgment has been made by the Dutch inquiry that the Iraq War was and is indeed illegal, the precedent has been set by the international community for future inquiries and trials. Most of the news in America seems to revolve around whether or not the legal teams assembled by the Bush administration preclude the leaders of that administration from prosecution under U.S. laws. Silent are the arguments that should be raised by the still ongoing trials of WWII era war criminals like John Demjanjuk. We at CAMMMO think that any young person considering service in today’s for-profit U.S. military should be acutely aware that the decision to participate in today’s U.S. led illegal invasions and occupations could very well land him or her on the witness stand one day, even as a defendant, in the years that will follow the illegal operations.

CAMMMO, Incorporated is a 501(c)(3) non-profit advocacy group fighting for truthful and equal messaging in U.S. military marketing, advertising and recruiting strategies. CAMMMO focuses on heightening the public’s attention to the use of video games, motorsports and high school and college athletics to misrepresent the fact based realities of life, death or injury in the U.S. military. CAMMMO also seeks to effect a complete disassociation between the U.S. military and grade schools, as well as bring an end to the U.S. military’s relationship with the Boy Scouts of America.
